Beliefs

  • Love

Love is the greatest commandment. First, love for God must be our priority, and our love for others must follow it. Love for God drives our obedience to Him and His truth while our love for others proves our discipleship and love for Christ.

    Matthew 22:35-40; John 13:34-35; John 15:12; 1 John 4:7-21; 1 John 5:1-3; Revelation 2:4-5

  • The Bible

In its original expression, the Bible is the holy, infallible, and inspired word of God. It was penned by the hands of men but authored by God. It is our ultimate rule of faith and practice.

    Psalm 119:160; Romans 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

  • Creation

All creation came into being as described in Genesis by the power and will of God.

    Genesis 1-2

  • God

The personal triune God consists of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While different in manifestation, all three are unified as one. They are equal in eternal, unchanging nature and divine perfection as the only, true, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God, the I AM.

    Exodus 3:13-14; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-13; Matthew 28:18-20

  • Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin by the miraculous power of God according to the Scriptures. He is the Son of God, the only begotten Son given by the Father, and God the Son of the Trinity who left His glory and took on flesh. While He was in the flesh, He was wholly man and yet still wholly God and He lived a sinless and perfect life.

    Matthew 1:18-20; John 1:1, 14; John 3:16; John 10:30; 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Peter 2:22

  • Christ's Death

Christ’s voluntary death on the cross paid the sin debt for all mankind but His sacrifice is only effective to those who choose to believe.

    Isaiah 53; John 3:16; Hebrews 2:9; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 2:2

  • Christ's Resurrection

Jesus Christ bodily arose from the grave and ascended into heaven. It is through His resurrection that the resurrection and eternal life of all those who believe on Him for salvation is assured.

    Matthew 28:1-7; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:42-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

  • Christ's Return

Christ will one day return bodily as He ascended at the end of this world age. At His return, all the dead in Him will be raised and those righteous living will be translated. Christ will set up His millennial kingdom and rule with His saints. At the end of this millennial reign will be the final judgment where all are judged, both living and dead, righteous and unrighteous. The unrighteous will go to everlasting torment due to their rejection of Christ while the righteous go into everlasting life through their faith and trust in Christ and His sacrifice for them on the cross.

    John 14:1-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19; Revelation 20:1-6; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:8

  • Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, the third part of the Trinity, is God the Spirit. He is the divine guide and administrator for Christ to God’s churches and His people.

    Luke 24:49; John 14:16-17; John 16:12-15; Acts 1:4-5, 8; Acts 2:1-4

  • Satan

Satan is a fallen angel who rebelled against God. He is unholy, the god of this world system, and his final destiny will be defeat at the hand of God and eternity in the lake of fire.

    Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Matthew 25:41; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 6:10-17; Revelation 20:10

  • Man

Mankind was created in the image of God and lived in sinlessness until they lost it by voluntarily breaking God’s law by eating the fruit. The result is that since Adam and Eve, all of mankind are sinners, are dead spiritually due to this separation from God, and are on the road to Hell.

    Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12, 19; Ephesians 2:1-3

  • Salvation

Salvation is wholly by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross, burial, and physical resurrection and ascension. Salvation cannot be earned by our works or good deeds. All that is necessary is that a person admit their sin and need for Christ, believe that Christ shed His blood on the cross for them to pay their sin debt because He loves them, and cry out to God to forgive them and save them. God will make them alive spiritually in Christ, clean under the blood of Christ, and new creatures in Christ.

    Luke 13:3-5; John 3:5-7; John 3:16-18; John 16:8-9; Acts 20:20-21; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:9-11; 2 Corinthians 5:17-19; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5

  • Security of the Believer

All those who repent and receive God’s gift of Salvation are sealed and indwelled by the Holy Spirit, held in God's hand, are eternally secured by God's power, and will never spiritually die (i.e. go to Hell or the Lake of Fire) but will spend eternity with God.

    John 3:36; John 5:24; John 10:27-30; John 14:3; Romans 8:35-39; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Peter 1:3-5

  • God's Children

Through Salvation, we are adopted into God’s family and become His children. God deals with His believers as sons and daughters. He will temporarily punish those who are disobedient to His will and reward those who are obedient.

    John 1:12-13; Romans 8:14-17; Hebrews 12:5-11

  • Church

Jesus Christ established His church during His ministry on earth. A church is always a local, visible assembly of scripturally baptized believers that have come together as a unified group pledging to carry out the Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each church is independent and self-governing under the leadership of Jesus Christ through the Spirit as its head. No other religious body may exercise authority over them. Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission to New Testament churches only and He promised the perpetuity of His churches until He comes again.

    Matthew 4:18-22; Matthew 16:18; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:16-20; John 1:35-51; Ephesians 3:21; Ephesians 5:21

  • Church Ordinances

There are two ordinances given by God to His churches: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Baptism translates to “dip, immerse, or submerge”. Baptism done Scripturally must be the complete immersion of a believer (one who has already repented and received Salvation) in water by the authority of one of God’s Churches.

    Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:12, 38; Acts 10:44-48; Romans 6:4

The Lord’s Supper is a memorial ordinance to remember the death and sacrifice of Christ on the cross and is restricted to members of each specific church as that church partakes in the ordinance.

    Luke 22:14-23; 1 Corinthians 5:11-13; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

  • Church Offices

There are only two offices in a church that are Biblically appointed by God: pastors and deacons. These offices are to be filled by men whose qualifications are outlined in Titus and 1 Timothy.

    1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9

  • Spiritual Gifts

The miraculous personal spiritual gifts ended when the last portion of the Bible was finished as they completed their purpose.

    1 Corinthians 12-14

  • Freedom of Worship

Christ's churches have freedom of worship without interference from any government or worldly influence. His churches are commanded to be obedient to the laws and regulations of the governments and rulers over them unless those laws and regulations run contrary to the Holy Scriptures.

    Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-15; Acts 5:27-32

  • Marriage

According to all Biblical teachings and examples, God’s plan, will, and desire for marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

    Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; 1 Corinthians 7:2-4; Ephesians 5:22-33

  • Gender Identity

Each individual is designed and created by God and each person is given one of only two genders by God, either male or female. Though sin's destructive and warping effects on our physical bodies may make gender identity difficult in rare situations, it is not up to us to reassign or change our gender, and attempting to do so goes against God’s design. It is our responsibility to make sure our minds fit God’s design rather than attempting to make His design fit our minds.

    Genesis 1:27; 5:2; Jeremiah 13:23; Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6; Romans 12:2
